I just went to that understandpmdd website, and I recommend that if you are questioning, you should start the Body Diary to keep track of your symptoms so you can show your health care provider. I went not thinking I had any real problem with that and it turns out I might, so it's worth a try!

There is something called PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), which is a very severe and debilitating form of PMS. It's not just "bad PMS".

I was dx'd with severe PMDD 4 years ago, after suffering a very severe case of PPD after my almost 5 year old daughter was born. I was on so many different antidepressants for the PPD, but when the PMDD came along, NOTHING helped it. It was a really desperate time for me. I was suicidal every month.

Back in October I began taking Yaz birth control, which has literally saved my life. I no longer take the other meds, except for an occasional Ativan for anxiety.

Here is an article about my personal experience... I warn you, it's quite intense. ......
And, here is some major info regarding PMDD......

You can track your symptoms over on the Yaz website. If you find that your symptoms are possible PMDD ones, talk to your gyn or PCP about it.

Sounds hormonal but do keep a diary. If you drink coffee or caffinated beverages your symptoms will be much worse.

Caffeine has a nasty habit of attacking your adreneal glands in a such a way that it will interfere with the normal running of your hormones especially during high stress times such as hormone swings and boyfriends!...

Read a book called 'The Caffiene Blues'

If other times in the month are OK and you do not have problems with the relationship then its likely due to PMS. Try keeping an emotions diary and see if you can find a link.
