Mark M asked:

My girlfriend has major PMS issues and I am being treated like garbage the entire time. How do I deal with this? I love her very much but every month I am about to break up with her. but the rest of the month she is a great woman.

Every woman is different. I don’t have PMS issues but my husband said that his ex-gf did and he would basically stay away and leave her alone when she would act “crazy” as he put it. I know she’s not trying to argue with you, it’s just that she is reacting to the surge of hormones in her body. If she’s trying to argue, don’t argue back. Maybe you could just step back and tell her that perhaps she needs time to herself.

during the period cycle, just be as occupied as possible, leave frequently, be at work, hang out with friends, anything but just keep away and you guys wont get into fights and arguements as much…thats what i do.

Talk to her rationally about it when she’s not PMSing and not right after her period either… say about 2 weeks in. If she’s on birth control it might be an idea to suggest to her to talk to her doctor about switching pills which might help. I know I can be a ***** as well but when I realise its my hormones I’ll try my best to snap out of it.

If all else fails buy lots of chocolates!
